1. PLANT-BASED PROTEIN IS HIGHLY DIGESTIBLE.
A comprehensive feature from the Art of Wellbeing displays digestibility as one of the main downsides to whey. Its accompanying infographic also indicates that plant-based proteins are considered easier to digest and therefore more friendly to the stomach. The Model Health Show'sarticle also atests to this findings for whey and mentions the hemp protein as an alternative. Hemp protein is said to be a combination of "two soft, highly digestible proteins called edestin and albumin." Nutribody Protein's entry also suggests that around 60%-70% of whey consumers generates extra mucous, becomes constipated, or feels bloated after whey intake.
2. PLANT-BASED PROTEINS ARE HEALTHIER.
Each of the plant-based protein variety is considered to promote a valuable health benefit to body. Soy protein, for example, is said to contain "all of your essential amino acids (referred to as a complete protein)." Hemp protein, on the other hand, is considered "a superfood due to their high content of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids." Whey is disadavantaged from this perspective as most of the nutritional value for this protein are said to be taken away due to heavy processing and manufacturing.
3. PLANT-BASED PROTEIN IS SAFER.
Whey proteins widely available in the market are said to exceed the "safety limits for heavy metals recommended by the USP." Elements such as arsenic, cadmium, lead, and mercury, are deemed present at surprisingly high levels on these products. Most of these solutions also use artificial sweeteners such as acesulfame potassium and sucralose. Plant-based solutions are considered to be rid from these unwanted substances which may cause more harm than good to its consumers.
4.PLANT-BASED PROTEIN BUILDS AS MUCH MUSCLE AS WHEY.
An 8-week study comparing the effects of whey protein against rice protein building/promoting muscle mass concludes that the type of protein has less relevance in increasing lean body mass and body strength. This means in using either whey or rice protein, intake for the essential amino acid for muscle growth (leucine) is achieved. Moreover, a consumer of rice protein need not worry about lactose intolerance.
